You have just spent a nice bit of money on a new camera. Unless you are an expert, do yourself a favour, spend another tenner on this book. Your Nikon manual will still serve you as a quick referance (especially in PDF format), but this book will explain your camera to you, how to use it and a few nice tips from the pro. Just what you need to get going. No, I’m not the writer or publisher. Just happy to have bought the book. And I’m not a pro either. If I was a pro I would write a book, not buy one!

Thoroughly written explanation of all of the functions of the camera, and more importantly, usable settings based on the author’s own experience as a pro user of the D70. I’d been out of the SLR game for about 15 years until I got a D70 through work. This book helped me roll back the years and I am shooting with as much enjoyment and enthusiasm as I did with my ancient (and sadly long gone) Nikkormat FT3. The reason I bought the book is that the manual is so dense and technically written that even a passing glance led me straight to the fridge for a beer. As an added extra the book is very popular with my youngest son who is autistic. He finds the combination of menus, buttons and animal pictures irresistable - we have to take turns reading the book. How’s that for a recommendation?

Santa gave my 6 year old one of these for Xmas, all Christmas and boxing day she never put it down, by day 3 when you turned the camera on it flashed up good bye and turned off again, i returned the camera to the place on purchase for an exchange but after 3 months the same thing happened again, i now have camera number 3 and what a surprise, its happened again. this is a great item that bring hours of enjoyment when its working, i will be exchanging for camera number 4 only because my daughter loves it so much, my advise to anybody purchasing this item is keep your receipt, you will probably need it
